Problem: Creating Imagination

THE PROBLEM
In our quest to push boundaries and continuously innovate, we faced a unique design hurdle this week. The team grappled with the intricate task of encapsulating the essence of "imagination" within our level design. The challenge lay not just in creating visually stunning elements, but in ensuring that these elements effectively conveyed the emotion and idea of imagination to our players.
THE SOLUTION
The solution was both innovative and surreal. We transformed a conventional mountain into a fractured marvel with floating and revolving rocks and clouds, moving away from our initial design of a regular mountain. The trees, with their vibrant pink leaves, beautifully complement the color palette inspired by our skybox. To further enhance the setting, we tweaked the base grass terrain with an aqua hue, resulting in a lush, deep green that harmonizes with the skies above.
But the true magic lies in the details. Enormous bubbles cascade from the heavens, rolling across the landscape. These bubbles interact with the environment and players, adding a layer of challenge as they pop upon contact, causing damage. To bridge the gap between imagination and reality, we strategically placed colossal objects throughout the world. These objects mirror those showcased in our game's cutscenes, offering players a surreal yet familiar experience.
Our skybox became the canvas for our imagination, painted with mesmerizing shades of purples, pinks, and blues. It serves as the perfect backdrop to this dreamlike realm we've crafted.
This redesign is a testament to our commitment to delivering a unique and immersive gameplay experience. As we venture further into the world of game development, we promise to keep pushing the envelope, ensuring that our players are always at the forefront of our creative decisions.
