ModelMayhem: A Programmer's Tale

In the past weeks I have been working on fixing the player character models because they were different from the actual models that should be in the game. Unfortunately for me I didn't do it at the beginning of the game because I thought that it would be an easy task to later swap the models to the ones that reflect the actual classes. In reality it took me like a 3 weeks worth of time to change those models and there is still a visual bug with them. I am a programmer and the last thing I know how to do is build armature, rig and design models. Because of that I had to learn a completely new set of features, which is not a bad thing but it is far from what I work on mostly, that is why it is kind of useless for me.

What I am trying to say with all that, is have a specific reason for why you are doing something and don't do something just because. This project was done with the idea of showing my skills in developing a player controller and everything that is related to it like combat system, camera system, movement system and so on. Having to swap to something that is not programming like working on models was kind of a waste, I think, because it doesn't reflect how good of a gameplay programmer I am. Don't get me wrong, It is certainly good for game to have a correct models and everything matching with each other. Although, maybe sometimes you have to work on other things even if they are not related to you, maybe they look irrelevant to you but in reality the are relevant and will help you in the future. Don't know.)
