Dev Log 3
Psyche » Devlog
Greetings from Sad Ogre Studios! We're back with an exciting update on the development progress for Psyche. It's been a busy week implementing major new features and content.
On the programming side, we've added:
- A manual save system so players can save their progress at any point. This includes multiple slots, overwrite protection, and a continue feature.
- Integrated the FMOD audio engine into Unity to power our sound effects and music.
- Created scriptable objects to contain audio assets for different game classes. An audio manager handles playback and cleanup.
- Sourced new audio assets including player voices, spell sounds, enemy growls, ambient tracks, and background music. The world is really coming alive!
- Scriptable objects to define player classes and an ability system to unlock new powers. Players can now switch between classes seamlessly.
- Enemies now have defeat animations and death states when destroyed.
For art and design:
- Completed the blockout for the Imagination level - one of the first dream worlds. The tone and style are really taking shape.
- Refined the player attack animations and properly enable/disable damage colliders in sync with the animations. Combat feels visceral!
- Gathered nature-themed assets to decorate the Imagination level.
Our next steps are to create the first boss encounter. We'll continue polishing combat and integrating more audio to heighten the experience. Psyche is really coming together and we can't wait to share more!
