Dev Log 1



In Psyche, you play as Anna, a seemingly ordinary person who has found herself in an extraordinary situation. As you race against time to find and release your husband's consciousness from his subconsciousness, you must navigate through uniquely handcrafted levels, fight hordes of mobs who will stop at nothing to defeat you in your goal, and fight epic bosses. As the player, you will utilize a range of classes and abilities at will to help you achieve your goal. Will you make it to the end and save yourself and your husband? Is there something darker going on? Only time will tell...

Hi! We are Sad Ogre Studios, an independent game development studio. This is our first major project and we are so excited to have you join us on this journey!

We are in the beginning stages of development with Psyche. The core concept has been fleshed out and we are now starting to implement our core functionality. This will be the first of hopefully many devlogs that we'll be sharing with you! Here is what we have been hard at work with this week:

Programming:

  • Implemented basic player movement - Using Unity's new input system, our player can be moved using WASD. Player rotates to face forward.
  • Camera follow functionality - the game camera follows the player's position.

Art:

  • We've decided to use a low poly art style for the project and have selected SYNTY as our main source for assets. 
  • Added walk/idle animations to our player 

Overall, the planning phase of our project is almost completed, and then we are ready to hit the ground running with development. 

Next steps are to add audio - SFX to the player as well as add additional movement functionality such as dodge, sprint, crouch, roll. Also, we'd like to start working on basic level design for the first level.
